Thanks to my friend Kristy, I have become a little more aware of Autism. She has also made me aware that April is Autism Awareness month. On April 1st & 2nd, prominent buildings around the world have turned their lights blue to raise awareness to Autism. View some of those pics by clicking here. Here's a really cute video of a song that some kids sang to raise awareness - click here to view the video.
I personally don't know anyone with autism, but I would like to do my part in raising awareness. This Friday, April 8th, I'm going to wear blue to work as some other companies are doing around my area. Check out events that may be in your area by clicking this link and putting in your zip code. Again, even if you don't know anyone with autism, pick a day to wear blue, put a blue light bulb outside your house or in your window, etc. Who knows, if you ask some co-workers to participate in wearing blue on a certain day in April, you may actually meet someone with an autistic relative. All you need is someone to ask what the blue is for and all you have to say is that it's for autism awareness. It's the little things that you can do in life to make a difference in someones life. So Light It Up during the month of April! Make the world blue!
