May is Preeclampsia Awareness Month!

Well it is May once again.  It's seems since Hailee died in April of 2009, time goes by so fast.  I don't like it, but that's just me.  It's just another year older that I loose the opportunity to have another baby.  But, this post is not about me, it's about Preeclampsia Awareness!  This is very near and dear to my heart and I get very upset about how people ignore this.  I don't know if anyone else who has experienced Preeclampsia and/or HELLP syndrome has noticed this or not, but it is very annoying to me.  I know that it is because it has not affected those people directly and I get that.  There are many killer diseases out there that have not affected me and my family directly as well.  I am, however, making an effort to help family and friends who support a cause to get the word out if I notice them trying to raise awareness for that cause.  Maybe I'm just having a bad day today, but I am disappointed.  Maybe I'm being selfish or unrealistic to think that friends and family should do more for MY cause, but this is something that almost took my life and actually took my baby's life.  I just don't want this to happen to anyone else.  So if that is being selfish, then call me selfish.  So having said my peace, I just want to say that this is not directed to anyone in particular.  I have some of the most awesome friends and my family have been so supportive, and I appreciate each and everyone of them!!  We have gotten so many donations for our walk and I'm so thankful for those who so generously gave.  Hailee died 2 years ago, but it is something that my husband, Matt, and I will think about each and every day.  I just want to stress that even though you have not been directly affected by Preeclampsia or HELLP syndrome or any killer disease for that matter, please don't forget about those who have been affected!  And just remember that you can be affected too at any given time.  There was no rhyme or reason for me to get Preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome, I just got it out of the blue.  It could happen to you.  It could happen to a loved one.  It could happen to a dear friend.  I just want to help you to prevent the worst case scenario.  Most of us are connected to Facebook or Twitter or some social networking media.  If you could please post this link HERE to Preeclampsia's website regarding Signs and Symptoms in honor of Preeclampsia Awareness month, then this could get out to so many people and maybe save a life.  It will not take long to click on the link and share.

  1. Laying in ICU on a ventilator (my personal encounter with preeclampsia) is TOO LATE to discover what preeclampsia is! Educate yourselves, your friends, your family, and most importantly, your doctors!!!
